It is with greatest sadness and heart felt sorrow to announce that the supreme Marje' (religious authority) Ayatollah al-'Udhma al-Imam Sayyid Muhammad Shirazi died after the sudden and abnormal deterioration of his health . . . in the early morning of Monday 2nd Shawwal 1422, 17th December 2001, in the holy city of Qum.
We offer our sincere condolences to the Imam of our time – Imam al-Mahdi, may Allah hasten his reappearance – and to his successor Ayatollah al-'Udhma Sayyid Saadiq Shirazi.
Abduction of the body of Ayatollah al-Udhma al-Imam Sayyid Muhammad Shirazi by the Iranian Secret Service
As the funeral procession was heading towards the burial site, the Iranian authorities embarked on some extraordinary and sinister measures that raise seriously worrying questions as to why they were so desperate to resort to such unbelievable measures . . .
. . . members of the Iranian special forces and agents of the Iranian secret service attacked the funeral procession, and after mercilessly beating the mourners who resisted them, abducted the body of the late Ayatollah al-Udhma Sayyid Muhammad Shirazi! The Iranian authorities later claimed they buried the body in the mausoleum of lady Ma'soumah. Needless to say the burial took place without the knowledge, consent or presence of the family of the deceased and contrary to the expressed will of Imam Shirazi regarding his place of burial.
These unbelievable and sinister acts of the Iranian authorities raise the extremely disturbing question as to
What were they so fearful of to resort to such abhorrent and desperate measures? !
